Nurse Spotlight: Sharon Muchina at Wichita Presbyterian Manor

Nurse Spotlight: Sharon Muchina at Wichita Presbyterian Manor

Sharon Muchina has worked the second shift in the Post-Acute to Home (PATH®) rehab unit at Wichita Presbyterian Manor since last November, but the registered nurse has experience with a range of health care settings.

As a floor nurse at Wesley Medical Center, she attended to pediatric patients and women with high-risk pregnancies. She has also served as a community health nurse and case manager for pediatric, young adult and elderly patients.

In addition to direct care, Sharon once owned and operated a non-emergency medical transportation company.

Sharon moved to the U.S. from Nairobi, Kenya, 21 years ago. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Newman University.

“I chose nursing because it is an interesting and growing career field that offers anyone the opportunity to work in various health care settings,” Sharon said.

She enjoys her work at Wichita Presbyterian Manor in part because she knows the care she provides is appreciated by both residents and their families.

“As a nurse I enjoy providing care to the residents,” she said. “I also know that what I am doing is helping their families not to worry about their loved ones doing the things they can no longer do for themselves.”

Sharon believes Presbyterian Manor distinguishes itself by the comprehensive care it offers.

“I love that Wichita Presbyterian Manor is a community equipped to meet various health care needs,” she said. “If anyone in our community finds themselves in need of any health care services we have it all – from independent living all the way to end of life care.”

In her free time, Sharon enjoys hanging out with family and friends. She also enjoys all kinds of music, taking road trips, and indulging in her love of fashion and design.
