PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®) is thrilled to announce that U.S. News and World Report has recognized six communities on its list of Best Nursing Homes. The list was published on November 12 and is widely used by prospective residents and their families in their research for the right community.

The communities recognized by U.S. News and World Report are:

U.S. News and World Report annually analyzes data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other sources to determine which short-term rehabilitation centers and skilled nursing communities perform at the highest level and designates them as Best Nursing Homes in their publication. CMS is the government agency that sets and enforces standards for nursing homes and assigns them a rating of one to five stars, based on how they performed in health inspections, nursing staffing, and quality care.

This year, U.S. News and World Report evaluated almost 15,000 nursing homes. Only 19% earned a High Performing rating in either Short-Term Rehab or Long Term Care.

The PMMA communities that earned a high rating in short-term rehab were evaluated on nurse staffing, the percentage of residents who are able to return home after being discharged, and on the number of falls and infections requiring hospitalization. Communities that earned a high rating in long-term care were evaluated on nurse staffing, whether residents continue to be able to care for themselves, and the number of emergency room visits.

“We are deeply honored to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a leading nursing home,” said Bill Taylor, Chief Operating Officer for PMMA. “This distinction reflects our mission to provide compassionate care and ensure the highest quality of life for our residents. It’s a testament to the dedication and excellence of the team in each community.”
