Angel Tree Campaign
We cannot do it without you.
Did you know almost 400 PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®) residents depend on the Good Samaritan Program?
The Angel Tree campaign is your chance to provide peace of mind to seniors in need, like Barbara Freerksen, 89.
“I was so reluctant at first to share my story,” Barbara says. “But, why not? It’s just another step in life.”
Barbara allowed PMMA to tell her family’s story so others could understand what the program means to seniors who depend on it.

“I thank God every day for letting me live here,” she says.
Barbara and her husband Fred moved into a PMMA® community after Fred developed Alzheimer’s and had a serious accident at home. Fred moved into a Memory Care neighborhood while Barbara moved into Independent Living, where she still lives today.
“We only had money from two farms. $10,000 a month, that just went pretty fast,” Barbara remembers, saying that the Good Samaritan Program was a great comfort to her and many others who worry about finances running out.

“We have given and done for people all our lives. But it’s different when it comes to giving for yourself,” she reflects. “To know I have that back up…I just couldn’t believe it.”
Every gift raised supports PMMA® residents who can no longer afford care and services. Your gift makes it possible for residents to remain in their home through the Good Samaritan Program.
Now Barbara says she can feel the Lord’s blessings surrounding her community.
“I’m being fed and I got a roof over my head. I don’t worry about anything. Well…hardly ever,” she says.
And she says the Good Samaritan program played a big role in her feeling protected and cared for.
“It makes me feel wonderful and I just pray that it doesn’t run out.”
You can help spread joy and keep the program going with a gift to the annual Angel Tree campaign.
