From July 29 through Aug. 7, the community is invited to visit Presbyterian Manor at 4700 W. 13th St. to view works ranging from photography to painting to crafts by artists from throughout the area who are 65 and older. “We’re adding special evening hours on Final Friday, July 31,” said Presbyterian Manor-Wichita Marketing Director Amy Watson. “The exhibit will extend to 7 p.m. on that day to allow people an early start on their Final Friday art gallery visits. Our juried exhibit has expanded to eight categories this year with the addition of a special Christmas section, so come inside to cool down and share a bit of Christmas in July.” A reception and awards presentation will be held Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. to help celebrate August as Art Appreciation Month. The Art is Ageless Juried Exhibit is the preliminary judging phase for the Art is Ageless calendar contest, an annual tradition of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, the parent organization of Presbyterian Manor- Wichita. The purpose is to generate awareness that aging doesn’t necessarily mean giving up things we enjoy, and we may even find new talents. First place entries in each category and the Best of Show will be submitted in the systemwide contest for the 2010 calendar, occasion and note cards.
