Harmony Tree thrives at the Manor

Recent News

The Manor’s Harmony Tree reflects generous advice shared by residents and staff.

During the Manor’s Hearts in Harmony Week, activities staff began “growing” a Harmony Tree.

The activities department, along with the help of other departments, residents and family members, spent time putting words of wisdom, encouragement and uplifting thoughts on paper. These thoughtful notes became the heart-shaped leaves of the Harmony Tree.

When asked to contribute words of advice to help others through life, everyone was excited to participate.

In fact, we didn’t realize how great the response would be to this project. We still receiving words of wisdom.

In addition to the many words of advice offered by residents, there was an outpouring of advice from staff.

We had staff from nearly every department in the Manor contribute to the Harmony Tree.

Here is some of the advice on the Harmony Tree:

“Respect...if you give it, you receive it,” from Beverly Mitchell, food services. “Yesterday’s history, tomorrow’s a mystery, today is a gift,” from Catrina Butler, social services. “Do no harm,” from Bill Brewer, resident. “By the grace of God, we have each other,” from Harlan Phifer, resident. “A few words of love will last a lifetime,” from Ann Madden, CNA. “Eat your elephant one bite at a time,” from Angela Page, CNA. “The act of kindness, no matter how small, is never wasted,” from the grandmother of Linda Arbuckle-Ross, activities assistant.
