On July 31 and August 1 and 4, the community is invited to visit between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to view works ranging from photography to painting to crafts by artists from throughout the area who are age 65 and older.
An evening showing will be held August 5 along with the announcement of winners in each category and a reception for the artists. The exhibit and awards reception will be at Presbyterian Manor at 2601 East Crawford.
“The exhibit has grown quite a lot this year”, said Kim Fair, Presbyterian Manor Director of Marketing. “More than 25 works are entered in the seven categories in this year’s competition and exhibit”, Fair said.
A special artists’ reception and final showing of the exhibit will be held on Tuesday evening, August 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the lower level at Presbyterian Manor. Awards will be announced at 7:15 p.m. Refreshments will be served. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to the Manor at 785-825-1366 no later than Friday, August 1 at 2:00 p.m.
The 28th Annual Art is Ageless juried exhibit is the preliminary judging phase for the Art is Ageless calendar, an annual tradition of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, the parent organization of Salina Presbyterian Manor. A contest to select works for the calendar, which represents retirement communities throughout the Presbyterian Manor system, began in 1980 and has been held annually since. The purpose is to generate awareness that aging doesn’t necessarily mean giving up things we enjoy, and we may even find new talents.
First place entries in each category will be submitted in the systemwide judging for the 2009 calendar and cards. Winners in the juried exhibit will be announced to the public following presentation of awards on August 5.
