‘Just Ask’ the Alzheimer’s experts at Salina Presbyterian Manor

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing concern because the numbers are growing. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, about 5.3 million Americans have Alzheimer’s, and it is now the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States. It costs the country $172 billion a year. Do you have questions about the disease?

Salina Presbyterian Manor is hosting a free presentation, “Understanding Alzheimer’s,” on Thursday, Aug. 12. A panel of experts will feature Cindy Miller, outreach coordinator with the Alzheimer’s Association, speaking on late-stage Alzheimers; Amy Siple, associate professor at Newman University, speaking on the latest treatments and research; and Fran Paxton, Salina Presbyterian Manor executive director, speaking on the manor’s Memory Support Center and philosophy of care.

This is the third in a series of four free informational programs on Alzheimer’s from Salina Presbyterian Manor. Its ongoing “Just Ask” speaker series presents information and encouragement for seniors’ healthy lifestyles.

“Understanding Alzheimer’s” is Thursday, Aug. 12, at 3 p.m., at Salina Presbyterian Manor, 2601 E. Crawford. RSVP to Senior Living Counselor Kim Fair at 785-825-1366. Refreshments will be served
