Presbyterian Manor Celebrated Salina With Jim Giesendorf

Salina’s own historian, Jim Geisendorf, presented a program on the early history of Salina on Monday, April 21 in the lower level meeting room at Salina Presbyterian Manor. The public was invited to attend this informative program which coincided with the kick off of Salina’s sesquicentennial.

Those who are familiar with Mr. Geisendorf know he possesses an extensive knowledge of Salina and the area, the history of the beginnings of the town and its surroundings, people, events and buildings. Mr. Geisendorf began with a video, which he originally prepared for the country’s bicentennial in 1976, and answered questions after the presentation.

Following the presentation the group adjourned to the main dining room for refreshments and informal conversation with Mr. Geisendorf. A display of historical items collected by Mr. Geisendorf was available for viewing in the dining room.

The event was very successful with 116 members of the community joining Manor residents to hear Mr. Geisendorf.
