Home | Recent News | Parsons | County Fair 09 Jul 2006 Residents enjoy ‘county fair’ theme August is county fair time at the Manor, and that means another special-theme Buffet Day and several county fairthemed activities. Like many county fairminded ladies, back in July a few residents started on their bread and butter pickles — “shake pickles” to be exact. The project involves placing all ingredients in a container and then shaking the container every day for six weeks. The recipe came from Eda Loncarich of Oswego, who is the grandmother- in-law of Executive Director Lori Seifert. No county fair is complete without exhibits, so check out the Art is Ageless exhibit on the first floor Aug. 8 through 22. Everyone is invited to the artists’ reception being held in the chapel on Aug. 8 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. We will be awarding ribbons and certificates to the artists. Be sure to join us on Aug.16 for Buffet Day, complete with a delicious fair-themed meal, checkered cloth napkins and “Hammond Hog” placemats. Our menu will include St. Louisstyle pork spare ribs, chicken legs, potato wedges, corn on the cob, watermelon, lemonade and for dessert, we will have apple or cherry turnovers. Other events of the day will include live farm animals and a clown who makes balloon animals. You don’t want your friends and family to miss this one, so be sure to get your invitations out early (remember to notify the Manor of how many guests you will have attending). If you’re in a festive mood, join the staff in dressing up in county fair clothing (think overalls, straw hats, cowboy hats and boots, aprons and sundresses).
