 Home | Recent News | Parsons | Community Concert 09 Oct 2006 Residents attend community concertOn Oct. 25, several Manor residents and Pam Baker, activities director, attended a concert sponsored by the Parsons Area Community Concert Association at the Parsons Municipal Auditorium. They enjoyed a musical performance by Derek Moloney, a tenor from Limerick City, Ireland. It was a wonderful and entertaining evening. The Manor purchased group tickets for the concert season and offers them free to any residents. The Manor provides tickets, staff (to supervise and assist as needed), and transportation for residents interested in attending one of the concerts. All performances begin at 7 p.m. If you are interested in attending any of the concerts, talk with the Pam Baker. The Parsons Area Community Concert Association (PACA) offers a minimum of four annual concerts during September through March. The following are descriptions of the remaining performances as they appear in the PACA brochure: Joe Burgstaller: Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007. Often called “the man with the golden horn,” Joe Burgstaller fluently plays trumpet, flugelhorn, coronet and piccolo trumpet. The Great Kaplan: Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007. Inviting the audience into the humor is the focus of the show. Whether he’s juggling bean bags chairs, playing a melody on a “concert balloon” or levitating a bowling ball, Kaplan’s preposterous blend of dazzling skill and shameless gimmickry is sure to amaze and amuse. The Four Freshmen: Tuesday, May 1, 2007. The Four Freshmen perform with that same unmistakable sound of the original group and offer a vocal harmony like no other. Today’s Four Freshmen not only are some of the best young jazz vocalists in the business, but they each play instruments, creating a dynamic performance style.
