August 3rd a reception was held for all of the artists that participated in the 2007 Art is Ageless Competition at Presbyterian Manor of Parsons. The reception was held in the sunroom and was attended by both residents and guests to show support for the artists.  |  | | Alma Wolgamott displays her award for first place in the painting category. | Refreshments were served and a good time was had by all. Awards were presented to the winning artists in three categories. The Art is Ageless competition is a program for seniors 65 and older in the community to showcase their artistic talents in several catagories. The aim of the program is to demonstrate that creativity doesn't know age and that many people explore their artistic side after retirement from their jobs.
Best of Show was awarded to Fern Walls for her Popcorn stitched quilt. Walls also won in the mixed media category for her family plaque, and second place in the fiber arts category for a crocheted baby blanket.
First place in the fiber arts category was awarded to Alice McNabb for her latch hook rug. Alma Wolgamott won top honors for her painting “Flower basket”. She also won second place with her painting “Mare and colt”.
