Home | Recent News | Newton | Open Breakfast | Printme 06 Sep 2006 ‘Open breakfast’ allows morning flexibilityWhether health care center residents are early-morning risers or late sleepers, we fix up morning breakfast the way they like it, when they want it. From pancakes and bacon to poached eggs and toast … whatever is desired. Newton Presbyterian Manor now has an “open breakfast” in the health care center. Residents get up when they want and choose what they want to eat daily. We start serving at 7 a.m. and stay open until everyone’s done. We will also provide room service if desired. This is our new way of having all departments pitch in and help, just like a real family. Some days we have food service staff flipping pancakes, sometimes housekeeping staff makes the flapjacks. Food services and housekeeping staff members and certified nurse assistants are working together to provide the open breakfasts, and, by the way, it’s quite fun. Now all the staff, especially those who haven’t worked closely with the residents, have the opportunity to get to know each other. We started slowly, one neighborhood at a time. We hope to extend open breakfast to Anderson Place Assisted Living. With the help and positive attitude of all our staff we are getting positive comments from the residents.
