Home | Recent News | Newton | New Massage Therapy Services Offered 30 May 2008 New Massage Therapy services offeredDue to the many benefits of massage therapy, Presbyterian Manor has added to its wellness program by offering the services of a massage therapist. Lou Morse, a certified massage therapist, will now be offering her services in an office located at the back of the Wellness Center. An increasing number of research studies show massage reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation, relaxes muscles, and improves range of motion. Although therapeutic massage does not increase muscle strength, it can stimulate weak, inactive muscles and, thus, partially compensate for the lack of exercise and inactivity resulting from illness or injury. It also can hasten and lead to a more complete recovery from exercise or injury. Lou will have office hours on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Residents may make appointments by calling Lou’s extension at 1036. If Lou is serving a client or out of the office please leave her a phone message and she will return your call. Lou’s rates for services are as follows: - 30 minute massage- $25
- 1 hour massage- $45
- 5 minute mini-rubs of feet, hands or back- free (by appointment)
- Mini-rubs of feet, hands or back over 5 minutes- $1 per minute
All billing for services will be similar to the Manor beauty shop as Lou is an independent contractor and will bill separate of the Manor. Family members and friends can purchase gift certificates for residents. “I look forward to serving the residents at Presbyterian Manor. I am willing to customize my massage to each resident’s needs,” said Morse. “I have a table and equipment that will serve all residents, no matter their physical ability. I encourage all residents that are hesitant to try a massage to come down for a free mini-massage of feet, hands or back. I am confident that residents will find massage therapy very beneficial and I encourage them to give me a call.” Executive Director Shawn Sullivan adds, “We are excited to add this service to our wellness program and hope it will be another tool to help residents remain healthy and active.”
