Library reorganization completed

Marcia Hiebert, activities director at the Manor, called me to see if I would be willing to help re-organize the library at Presbyterian Manor. Since that time, I have met several times with the ladies who live at the Manor and were willing to serve on the library committee Manor residents helping with the reorganization include Clara Koehn, Phyllis Fischer, Erma Junke Catherine Scheffler and Irene Schmidt. I am a member and librarian of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church.

The first thing that we did was use the existing three section bookshelves for the fiction books. Since there were a lot of books by the same author, we decided that we would label series books by authors. Some of the authors we chose to highlight were Janette Oke, Sandra Brown, Nora Roberts, and James Michener, to name a few. After looking over the large variety of books in the library we decided to use the Dewey Decimal System that already existed, but wasn't up to date. Instead of organizing books in numeric order within the 100's, 200's, 300's, etc., we put colored stickers on the spine of the books so that you can easily locate and re-shelve the books yourself.
