Get a-board the FITness Railroad and take a ride on the Wellness Track to Good Health and Fitness!

By Jennie Etheridge - Wellness Assistant

ALL-a-board and find out what you can do at Presbyterian Manor. Getting on the right track isn’t hard to find, just take the elevator down to the basement and you will find the Wellness Center Train Depot. There you will find some equipment and a Wellness Assistant eager to help you find your way to a healthier lifestyle.

Exercise is one of the most powerful tools you can use to maintain good health. Every major study on health and exercise supports this simple idea. Staying physically active and exercising regularly can help prevent or delay many diseases and disabilities. Moderate exercise and physical activity can improve the health of people who are frail or who have diseases that accompany aging. As we grow older, an inactive lifestyle can cause us to lose ground in four areas that are important for staying healthy and independent: strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance. Exercise and physical activity can help senior citizens maintain or partly restore these four areas.

Congratulations! A free ticket is waiting just for you to discover the benefits of exercise. Along the ride you will begin to feel calmer and happier, even after your first workout. Within weeks, you’ll notice that you are less tired, feel stronger, have more endurance and can accomplish more each day.

All-a-board the Presbyterian Manor FITness Railroad--in order to use the Wellness Center you must be a Manor resident or have filled out an application for the reservation list. Then set up an appointment with Jennie or Jennifer to help you get started. They will help you get acquainted with the equipment; set up an individualized exercise program; and/or encourage you to participate in a variety of fitness activities offered. This could be the ride that makes a difference, so give it a try! Think about making a one-month commitment to exercise, call Jennie or Jennifer at 283-5400, x. 1051 and let us helpyou get on the right track to better health!
