Campaign funds provide new laundry room

Sounding the horn – literally – is Mark Frazier

Our new laundry room is getting closer to be being completed. The laundry department is moving from the first floor to a newly created room in the basement. Actually three rooms are being constructed: a receiving room for all soiled linen and clothing, a wash and drying room, and a clean room for folding. The laundry equipment moved Sept. 12 and after a state inspection Sept. 15, laundry is now done as usual every day in the basement. We are excited to have the additional work area the move has created. The laundry department does about 155, 000 pounds of laundry every year. This includes linens, some personals and cleaning materials for all departments. This is just the beginning of the changes that are beginning to take place at the Newton Manor. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation while these changes take place, and invite you to come down and see the new facilities. We are right next to the wellness center.

We weren’t breaking ground to start the new laundry room, so we had a “breakthrough” ceremony instead. Sounding the horn – literally – is Mark Frazier, Shaping Tomorrow fundraising campaign chair, to the delight of Ermal McFarland, resident and major campaign donor.
