Research studies show that the majority of senior adults would like to spend more time with their physicians to ask questions. Studies also show that patients following the plan of care prescribed have healthier outcomes. We hope this new Ask the Doctor service will help fulfill a need Manor residents have and ultimately lead to healthier and more active living. We talked with local physicians in planning this new program which is conducted by Manor Medical Director Dr. Dale Griswold. On the second Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel, Dr. Griswold gives a program on a health topic of interest. The program is followed by a question and answer period. Examples of programs given to date include how to prepare for a doctor’s appointment, dementia, and macular degeneration. On the fourth Wednesday of each month, Dr. Griswold has individual “Ask the Doctor” sessions. He is available for individual appointments (free of charge) with residents. The service is not meant to replace the services of primary care physicians and Dr. Griswold does not be examine, diagnose or prescribe. However, he is available to answer questions about a particular diagnosis or medications prescribed and to serve as a great resource for individual questions you may have for a medical professional. Dr. Griswold provides a written summary of the appointment that is sent to the resident’s primary care physician so that physician is aware of what has been discussed. Dr. Griswold has been a respected physician in our community for many years and is retired from the Axtell Clinic. Apartment, townhome, and cottage residents as well as assisted living residents may make appointments through the front desk.
