 Home | Recent News | Lawrence | Visiting Librarian 06 Jan 2006 Visiting librarian has Manor ties Each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., librarian Gregor Brune pulls up in the Book Van and unloads his rolling carts packed with reading materials. Gregor is always excited to stop at the Manor because that gives him the opportunity to see his grandmother, Manor resident Georgiana Brune. Gregor was born and raised in Lawrence, as was Georgiana. Gregor says he is the sixth generation in his family to live in the area. He graduated from Lawrence High School. He attended the University of Kansas and received a bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare. He has worked for the Lawrence Public Library for almost five years and has been driving the Book Van since June 2005. The Book Van is on the streets of Lawrence on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. During these three days he makes stops at six different facilities. The public library offers a number of convenient services to Book Van patrons. You may, of course, check out books. If you don’t have a library card, Gregor can issue one. If you don’t find anything you like, you can make a request and Gregor will most likely have it for you the next Wednesday. You can request special titles. If your request is not available, an interlibrary loan may be made. You can also request books on audio tape, videotapes, DVDs or CDs. Books are checked out for 30 days and can be renewed for an additional 30 days. Book Van patrons are exempt from fines for overdue books. The library’s card catalog can also be accessed online. You can locate materials and request they be delivered by the Book Van. The Book Van makes a stop at the Manor each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Gregor sets up in the recreation room and is there for one hour. Be sure to check it out!
