Home | Recent News | Lawrence | Pine Trees 01 May 2006 Flowers, dragons and pine treesAsian textiles on display in Spencer Museum of Art Through May 28, a variety of Asian textiles will be on view in the Kress Gallery at the Spencer Museum of Art. This exhibition at the museum on the University of Kansas campus presents a selection of the museum’s little-known but outstanding collection of Asian textiles. Objects include court, merchant, military, theatrical and folk costumes, temple and household furnishings, and numerous pieces of complex weaving, embroidery and dyeing. The textiles range in date from the 15th to the late 20th century. Manor residents are invited to tour the exhibit on Thursday, April 6. The Manor van will depart from the ground floor entrance at 2:10 p.m. There is no charge for the museum tour. Please sign up in the business office if you wish to participate in this activity. In conjunction with the exhibit the museum is sponsoring a film series. A van will be offered to the showing of “Memoirs of a Geisha” on Thursday, April 27, at 7 p.m. The Manor van will depart from the ground floor entrance at 6:30 p.m. Please sign up in the business office. There is no charge for the movie.
