 Home | Recent News | Lawrence | 2007 Fall Benefit 26 Aug 2007 Fall Benefit for Presbyterian Manor September 18 and 20The Annual Fall Benefit for Presbyterian Manor of Lawrence will be held Tuesday, September 18 at the Manor, 1429 Kasold, for the open to the public Soup and Pie Supper and Auction; and the golf tournament will be on Thursday, September 20, at Eagle Bend Golf Course.
All proceeds from this event benefit residents through the Good Samaritan Program or the Special Projects Fund. This year the Special Projects Fund will help purchase a new tractor for yard work and snow removal and a Whisperglide -- a glider swing that Is wheelchair accessible.
The Soup and Pie Supper will be held beginning at 5 pm in the main dining room and outside on the entrance patio. The Silent Auction will be set up in the ground floor lobby beginning at 5 pm until 6:30 pm. At 6:30 pm the Live Auction will begin.
"We expect anywhere from 300 - 500 diners," says Linda Fyler, Activities Coordinator for the Manor. There is a choice of soups: baked potato chowder, homemade chicken noodle or chili; relishes and bread sticks round out the menu. Homemade pies, donated by local churches and Manor residents, will be served for dessert. Cost to attend is $5 per person.
"The auctions feature something for everyone: from baskets of chocolate to new tires; small appliances; KU items; Soup of the Month; Dessert of the Month, you name It, we probably have one" stated Fyler.
This year a "buy It now" option for the silent auction Items means you do not have to wait around to see If you won the bid. You can pay the stated price, settle up and avoid the rush at the end of the auction.
The golf tournament is a four-person scramble with cash prizes awarded to the top two finishers In each of three flights. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 am September 20 with a shot-gun start at 1 pm.
Tickets for the Soup and Pie Supper and Auction may be purchased at the door or at the Manor's Business Office, 8 am to 5 pm weekdays, 10 am to 3 pm on Sat. and Sun. Registration forms for the golf tournament are available by calling the Business Office at 841-4262 during business hours, or you can print one from the web site.
