Girl Scout builds garden wagons for the Manor

Casey Serrano

We have again been graced by the gift of a Girl Scout working on her Golden Award. This year it was Casey Serrano, a dietary aide who developed a project of building garden wagons that are elevated so residents who use wheelchairs can once again “garden” even though it is difficult for them to get down on their hands and knees. She designed and built three wagons, put wheels on them and filled them with soil to prepare for the planting of flowers.

It is our plan to continue to garden this winter by placing the garden wagons in appropriate and sunny locations. Thank you, Casey, for a great addition to the courtyard and providing the option of gardening to residents who have worked with gardens throughout their lives.
