Artists and craftspeople who are 65 years old or older throughout the Presbyterian Manors service areas are participating and competing for a chance to be featured in the 2007 Art is Ageless Calendar. “This is an ideal opportunity for senior artists to display their artistic abilities in any medium they choose,” said Patty McGee, marketing director at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. “Whether sculpture, watercolors, acrylic, oil, stained glass — whatever their chosen medium. The only requirement is that the work must have been completed since January 1, 2001.” Competition categories for the competition included drawing, painting, photography, sculpture/3-dimensional, needlework, fiber arts and mixed media. Each participating artist is limited to three entries with no more than two entries allowed in a single category for the juried exhibit. However, artists could choose to participate in the exhibit only. “The Art is Ageless exhibits and calendar competition offer a way to remind people of all ages that our senior years can be the best years of our lives,” said Leslie Chaffin, corporate director of marketing. “The arts offer new opportunities to grow and expand our horizons; and ‘retirement’ offers us the opportunity to re-engage in hobbies we hadn’t the time to pursue and to try new adventures, new experiences and enjoy life to the fullest.” For more information on the 26th Annual Art is Ageless juried exhibits throughout the Presbyterian Manors system, click here.
