Manor recognizes volunteers who make a difference all year

Recent News

Volunteer of the Year, Puja Patel, works with resident Dorothy Love during a craft class where they created beaded vases.

On Wednesday April, 23 at 3:30pm Presbyterian Manor honored all volunteers who donate their time and energy to our residents and Manor. While each volunteer offers different talents, each one is greatly appreciated. Whether they are visiting with residents, folding towels, playing the piano, or conducting a Bible study, our Manor and the lives of our residents are enhanced by their willingness to give of their time and services. Residents, employees, and family members all visited during the reception to show their gratitude.

In addition, the Manor recognized the Volunteer of the Year, Puja Patel. Patel is a Fulton High School junior and has been a volunteer at Presbyterian Manor for a year and a half. She has faithfully been helping with activities every week. She is loved by residents and employees alike. New residents quickly want to get to know “the girl with the big smile.” Working with residents one-on-one as well as in small groups for reading and storytelling, Patel always has a ready smile and is ready to listen. She also pitches in and helps out during birthday and other special parties, afternoon skill improvement games with residents that include ring toss, bongo sticks, kickball, and bean bag bocce. This year Patel is hosting our Tuesday afternoon patio socials where residents gather in our indoor courtyard for some sun and fun. They have enjoyed a Hobo Party to celebrate Tax Day; they’ve made beaded vases, and played our own version of Deal or No Deal.

When Patel is not volunteering, she is involved with the high school Honor Society, Key Club, and cheerleading. She plans to attend St. Louis College of Pharmacy after graduation next year. She also dreams of going to design school and breaking into the fashion world.

If you are interested in volunteering, we invite you to stop by the Manor or call Jeff Young at 573-642-6646, or via email to learn the many advantages of donating your time.
