Spicing Up the Manor

Recent News

Everyone enjoys trying the new recipes the cooking class is cooking up on Monday afternoons.

Presbyterian Manor spiced up cooking classes throughout the month of April. Every Monday at 2:30 p.m. residents and staff hosted a cooking class sharing their favorite recipes and learning new ones with Manor friends. While the tasty treats were prepared, residents and staff shared their cooking experiences and favorite foods. April has been a unique month of baking, as all participants have learned to create French Quiche, French Mousse Parfait, Pineapple Cake, and Pretzel Twist Ups.

The cooking class was the brain child of Activities Director Jeff Young who has as much fun as the residents. The cooking class is now open to the public to share recipes and cooking techniques.

Over the past few months Presbyterian Manor’s cooking classes have become quite popular. One of the favorite recipes has been the Raisin Pie provided by resident Anna Lou Quarters. Anna Lou had asked our Dining Services to create this favorite snack for a meal or two for all the residents to enjoy. The Raisin Pie has not only been added to the monthly menu, it has also been a big hit in the Manor’s cooking classes, as each participating resident had the opportunity to make their own pie. Many residents remembered the pies from their younger years at home and reminisced about making the pies with their mothers.

Cooking classes will also be held every Monday in May at 2:30 p.m. These classes are open to the public and community participation is encouraged as we are anxious to learn new recipes. For copies of past recipes or contribution of new recipes, contact Jeff Young at 573-642-6646, or via email.
