Fishing season is here and Presbyterian Manor has been enjoying the beautiful weather. Residents, staff, and family members have been taking advantage of the sunshine while hosting many field trips and outdoor activities. One of the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors was a fishing trip for the community and the residents to enjoy. Residents boarded the Manor bus to head for Little Dixie Lake where they had the opportunity to fish, socialize, and enjoy the beautiful dock and outdoors. The fishing trip was a success, even when Executive Director Jackie Luetkemeyer accidentally threw her entire fishing pole into the lake. She did not wind up qualifying for the best catch of the day. | | | Activity Director Jeff Young and fisherman Bryan McCown take a minute to enjoy the beautiful weather and fascinating features of McCown's fishing boat which was on display during a presentation on fishing boats as part of the week's activities. |
Additional fishing related activities during the week included local fisherman Bryan McCown brought his fishing boat to for resident to explore. Not only did residents learn about fishing boats, but past fishing memories were shared as each family had a fishing story of their own. McCown shared his fondest fishing memories and demonstrated various features of the boat in order to get a better understanding of how it helps to track fish while on the water. The fishing week ended with a taxidermy show for all to enjoy and compare to their biggest catch from the past. Residents and staff viewed the various displays and then voted on their favorite fish of the day. Presbyterian Manor is displaying various photos and memorabilia from the fishing week at the Manor. Community members are more than welcome to stop by anytime to view the fishing display and take a tour of the Manor.
