Baseball Season is in full swing and Presbyterian Manor is ready to cheer on their favorite teams and enjoy some good competition. June 23rd through June 27th is baseball week at the Manor. Residents and staff will participate in activities such as a whiffle ball game, a baseball card display and discussion session, and a Nintendo Wii baseball tournament. The highlight of baseball week will be Wednesday June 25th at 2:30 p.m. when retired major league baseball player, Charlie James, speaks at the Fulton Manor to share his experiences and memories. James was an outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964 when they won the World Series. His favorite baseball memory was hitting a grand slam home run off hall of fame pitcher Sandy Koufax. James will tell residents about his memories of the playoffs and the amazing and well-known players and managers that he met along the way. James will also bring a variety of his major league memorabilia such as his World Series ring, autographed bats, pictures, and much more. Residents, staff, friends, and family will all be welcome and encouraged to attend this once in a lifetime speech. James will finish his presentation with a question and answer session, as well as an autograph session for anyone interested. Mr. and Mrs. James are frequent volunteers at the Manor. We’re looking forward to hearing more about Mr. James’ baseball career as we celebrate the “great American pastime.”
