Volunteer Barbecue a hit

Recent News

An estimated 45 people attend the Village’s Volunteer Barbecue, enjoying delicious food and musical entertainment

The late summer evening of Sept. 14 was absolutely beautiful, and the weather was perfect for the Village’s annual Volunteer Barbecue.

Forty-five people attended the event, and musical entertainment was provided by volunteer L.C. Houston from Fort Scott. He has played with jazz musicians such as B.B. King in the past. He did a wonderful job, and everyone raved about the beautiful jazz music.

The meal was very tasty and consisted of grilled hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans and watermelon for dessert.

Dr. John Durling, who has been a volunteer for nearly 10 years, was recognized as the Village’s volunteer of the year and was given a gift certificate in appreciation of all his hard work.

Thank you to Dr. Durling, and to all of our faithful Village volunteers.
