What better antidote for frigid temperatures than a steaming bowl of delicious soup? Perhaps a cup of awesome chili? Or maybe a bowl of savory stew? Presbyterian Village is looking for all of the above in its “Souper Supper Cook-off” community competition.
“We’re inviting the public to enter their favorite comfort soup, stew or chili, and a panel of judges from our Over-60 Dinner Club will name the winner,” said Presbyterian Village Executive Director Ginger Dierksen. “Just call or visit the Village by Jan. 15 to register for the cook-off event, then bring a crock pot full of your favorite recipe to the Village on Jan. 19.”
The winning entry will receive $75, and the person who wins second place will receive $50. The top two winning recipes will be featured in an upcoming Way to Live newsletter, as well as in the Fort Scott Tribune as the 2010 Favorite Comfort Soup!
To enter your dish or for more information, call the Village at 620-223-5550 or stop by 2401 S. Horton by Jan. 15. On Jan. 19, those who turned in an entry in advance will need to bring a crock pot full of the recipe you’ve cooked for an official taste judging. Your entry of favorite comfort soup/chili will need to be at the Village by 5 p.m. and sustained until judging occurs at 5:30 p.m.
“We look forward to hearing from members of the community as they share their favorite recipes,” Dierksen said.
