Presbyterian Village Over 60s Dinner Club provides dining adventures

Fort Scott, Kan. -- If you are over age 65 and like to sample foods that are a little out of the ordinary, Presbyterian Village has just the thing for you: the Over 60s Dinner Club. The group’s next gathering will feature Latin foods.

“We invite singles and couples in the Fort Scott area to join us in exploring different types of cuisine,” said Presbyterian Village Executive Director Ginger Dierksen. “The goal is to relax, meet new people and, of course, enjoy great food that you might not have had the opportunity to try.”

The group will meet Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Village Community Room where a chef from El Salvador will prepare and serve authentic Latin foods such as “pupusas” (a popular snack similar to a thick corn tortilla stuffed with cheese or other delicious fillings). Salsa music will add to the atmosphere.

“We had a great evening together at our first dinner in July, when diners tried seafood including Mahi Mahi and shark,” Dierksen said. “We’re going to have a different taste experience at every dinner, and the club will meet every other month.”

The evening’s cost is $10 per person, and reservations are required by Sept. 15. Call 620-223-5550 or e-mail gdierksen@pmma.org to save your spot, as seating is limited.

“Give us a call if you would like to meet new friends and enjoy unique dishes right here in Fort Scott,” Dierksen said.
