Fort Scott Presbyterian Village Good Samaritan Event Is Putting the ‘Fun’ in Fundraiser Once Again!

Presbyterian Village of Fort Scott is celebrating 12 years of serving Bourbon County as an active living and wellness community. To commemorate our anniversary, the public is invited to visit the Village, 2401 S. Horton, at 4:30 on April 25, for the annual Good Samaritan Fundraiser event.

“We want to encourage everyone to come out, bring the family and enjoy a great spring evening,” said Ginger Dierksen, executive director for the Village. “Delicious Chicken Mary’s dinners will be available, and we will be auctioning some fantastic items — and one lucky winner will claim a luxurious cruise for two to the Western Carribbean!”

“All of the proceeds will go to Presbyterian Village’s Good Samaritan Fund,” Dierksen continued. “This helps ensure that residents who have outlived their personal resources and whose options for payment have been exhausted can continue to receive care regardless of their ability to pay.”

Dinners will be served from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., with entertainment from 5 to 6 p.m. The music is provided by quartet and band called Sekanaires, consisting of local artists Gene Boody, Dave Bittinger, Raymond Mauck, Ralph Carlson, Michael Pruitt, Red Stradley & Jerry Barr. Drive-through meal service is available. Those who order 10 or more meals, and who are unable to attend the event, may make advance arrangements for delivery.

Whether you’re in the market for a card table, antiques and collectibles — or even a car — the Presbyterian Village auction will have something for you. Jim Stewart, co-owner of Stewart/Kerly Auction Service, will entertain the crowd with his auctioneering prowess. All items for auction can be previewed at the Village beginning the day before the event, or by special appointment. The sale will begin at 5:30 p.m.

There will also be a drawing for a luxurious seven-night Western Caribbean Cruise for two. The Princess Cruise Lines ship will make stops at Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman Island; the private Princess Cays Island, Bahamas; and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Excursion activities from jet skiing, parasailing and swimming with the stingrays to shopping will be available at each port of call. The prize includes airfare and all expenses (port excursion activities, incidentals and alcohol excluded), and is fully transferable.

Drawing tickets will be offered for a suggested donation of $5 each, or three tickets for $10. They are available in advance, and will also be available at the event until the time of the drawing, which will be held at the end of the evening. Drawing winners need not be present and will be notified.

All tickets sales for the event are available in advance. They can be purchased at Presbyterian Village, Union State Bank, City State (south) Bank, United Missouri Bank and at the Citizens National Bank, in Fort Scott. The cost for the meal, which includes a drink and dessert, is $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Only a limited number will be available for purchase at the door so be sure to get your tickets early!

In the event of bad weather, all activities will be held indoors, and shuttle service will be available for parking. Please call Ginger Dierksen at the Village, 620-223-5550, for additional information and to purchase meal or drawing tickets.
