Makeovers bring inner beauty out for residents

Hattie Bullis, Rachael Friese (activities) and Betty Luig enjoy trying on the make up to determine which they liked best.

The Wikipedia encyclopedia describes beauty as a characteristic of a person that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure, meaning or satisfaction. An “ideal beauty” is a person who is admired, or possesses features widely attributed to beauty in a particular culture. The subjective experience of “beauty” often involves the interpretation of some entity as being in balance with nature, which may lead to feelings of attraction and emotional well-being. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is a common phrase that expresses this concept.

Cricket Brooks was pleased with the results of her "make over."

The lunch hour was a little more beautiful after a morning make over at Presbyterian Manor of Farmington. Mary Kay beauty consultant Lorna Smith spent the morning of April 24th assisting residents with tips on proper cleansing, exfoliating, and make up application during her skin care and cosmetic demonstrations.

The ladies were almost giddy as they made color recommendations to each other. Betty Luig, assisted living resident stated with a chuckle, “I have eyebrows again.” A few struggled with the decision of wearing a little darker shade of lipstick. Pink or Red? Red or Pink? After seeing the improved result – the group answered in unison “definitely yes”.

The ladies enjoyed the morning of pampering and socializing. In the act of learning more about skin care and picking out a new shade of lipstick or eye shadow, they were able to share their inner beauty with their table partners while working on outer beauty. All enjoyed the company and thought they definitely saw an improvement – we think it was because they were smiling from the inside out.
