Home | Recent News | Farmington | Luau 01 Feb 2006 Tropical attire, decorations part of LuauTiki Bar Volleyball Luau – what a unique name for an activity! It aptly describes the party held the afternoon of Aug. 19 at the Manor. Many staff members worked together to arrange this one-of-a-kind event. Members of the Food Services staff planned the majority of the party and decorations for the dining room, which included blow-up tropical animals, Hawaiian flowers, life preservers, palm trees and many other items that set a Hawaiian mood. They also prepared the food and hosted the event. The Health Care Nursing Department thought up the Tiki bar idea. The “bartenders” wore grass skirts and coconuts (over clothing, of course) and served a variety of brightly colored drinks adorned with umbrellas decorated with pictures of tropical fruit on them. Staff members at the party danced a hula and played volleyball in the dining room. It was a very active party with plenty of bright, cheerful colors to liven up everyone’s day. It was amazing to see what interesting ideas came to life when several people put their heads together. The Tiki Bar Volleyball Luau was a great finale to a hot hot summer.
