For art enthusiasts or those who simply want to learn more about art, the Manor also will host Bonne Terre artist Larry Blevins. Mr. Blevins will conduct a one hour “Wet on Wet” oil painting demonstration on Tuesday, July 29 at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The Art is Ageless Juried Exhibit is the preliminary judging phase for the Art is Ageless calendar contest, an annual tradition of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, the parent organization of Presbyterian Manor of Farmington. A contest to select works for the calendar, which represents retirement communities throughout the Presbyterian Manor system, began in 1980 and has been held annually since.
The purpose is to generate awareness that aging doesn’t necessarily mean giving up things we enjoy, and we may even find new talents.
First place entries in each category and the Best of Show will be submitted in the system wide contest for the 2009 calendar, occasion and note cards. Judges for the juried exhibit this year are: Pam Frakes, Beth Vogelsang and Dr. Jim Bullis.
