Cementing Relationships

Cement brings smiles to our gardeners

Recent News

New sidewalks around raised vegetable garden beds at the Manor were constructed thanks to Jim Coffin, owner of J.A.G., who donated the cement and labor for this project.

Great plans and expectations are in process for the plantings this year and the beautiful sidewalk surrounding each of the planters will enable more residents from all levels of living to enjoy gardening. This was a great sharing effort between the residents with their knowledge of gardening with others. Our residents served coffee, tea, and donuts to the workers while preparing the area and pouring the cement.

The raised beds were installed last year and Manor resident gardeners were very busy picking the crops from the garden each morning while it was cool. The raised garden beds helped tremendously and created ease for our residents to work in and enjoy the garden.

Maintenance staff designed and built the eight large garden boxes then filled them with dirt and fertilizer. Lisa Montoya, Activity Director, and David Harmon, Maintenance Supervisor, coordinated the project.

Many eager people joined in the planting, watering, picking, and last but not least enjoyed the fruits of their efforts. When employees and residents are in the garden early in the morning, all they think about is how everything is growing.

Everyone at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains would like to let Jim Coffin and J.A.G. know how very grateful we are for his generosity.
