Stitching and sharing: Manor women show off their quilts

January was the warmest on record, so residents and employees took their quilts off of their beds and brought them to share at a couple of special events at the Manor.

Residents enjoyed viewing quilts that several of the employees brought in to share on Jan. 13.

Molly Hibbard showed a quilt that her great-grandmother made around 70 years ago.

Edna Hundley showed a “Signature Quilt” that she received for a wedding gift several years ago.

Heather Germann showed a “Turning 20” quilt that she recently made.

Julie Cole also showed some quilts that had been given to her. After the program, residents enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies.

Tea party and quilt show

The ladies enjoyed a tea party and quilt show on Jan. 26. Hostess for the event was Roberta Smith, owner of the Bobbies Hobbies store here in Clay Center.

Roberta furnished the cloth napkins and tablecloths, different flavors of tea, and door prizes for each resident attending.

She had several women from the community bring in quilts, wall hangings, table runners and other craft items for the residents to view.
