Manor gears up for fair’s 15th anniversary

The Clay Center Presbyterian Manor Fair has been a staple in the community for 15 years. And once again this year, a fabulous dinner, prizes and overall good time await our many fairgoers.

Only a few weeks remain before the 2005 Manor Fair kicks off on Friday, April 29, at the Clay Center United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 925 Fifth Street. It will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. So now is the time to purchase your tickets.

Tickets for the dinner are $7.50 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 to 12; children under age 5 are free. Family meal tickets may also be purchased for $20. The brisket dinner will include a hot potato dish, baked beans, cole slaw, rolls, cobbler, ice cream and coffee and tea.

In addition, door prizes donated by area businesses will be awarded to lucky individuals and attendees may participate in a drawing to win a quilt, $100 and $500 savings bond and a bicycle. Tickets for the drawings are available for a suggested $1 donation per ticket or $5 for six.

The beautiful quilt was made especially for the Manor Fair by volunteers Frances Selig, Shirley Mackender, Ramona Dereusseau, Bertha Dodds, Diane Shaner, Violet Walters, Roberta Smith and the Miltonvale Quilt Guild.

The public is invited to attend the Manor Fair, whose proceeds benefit the Manor’s Good Samaritan Program, a fund that provides for the care of residents who have outlived their personal financial resources.

All tickets may be purchased at the Manor’s front office, 924 Eighth Street. For more information about the fair, please call (785) 632-5646.

The fair will feature countless booths, exhibits and displays. The Manor will have a booth at the fair that will be stocked with brochures and other materials to acquaint attendees with the services offered at our community. In addition, a staff member will be on hand to answer any questions.

And since the KCLY Spring Fair is held a week before the Manor Fair, individuals can get a sneak peek at the quilt that will be included in our drawing and have the opportunity to purchase tickets for a suggested $1 donation or $5 for six.

The winner of the quilt will be announced on Friday, April 29, at the Manor Fair.
