Manor's reading group a success

The Manor’s reading group, comprised of residents and staff members, is a success — and continuing to grow.

Everyone participating in the reading group has enjoyed the book selections and interesting discussions. The reading group has even helped us learn more about some of our residents’ families.

To begin, the group read two books about Pistol Pete. Cowboy and U.S. Marshal Frank Eaton was known as Pistol Pete. An active frontiersman and sharp-shooter, Pistol Pete had quite an impact on the Wild West’s history.

Everyone was excited to learn that Pistol Pete’s daughter-in-law is resident Pearl Eaton.

Next, the group will begin reading a book written by another resident’s relative.

Resident Ilene Gomez’s sister, Elizabeth Farmer, has written a book called “A Touch of Glory.” The book chronicles her life as a nurse and missionary.

All residents are invited to join the reading group, which meets at 2:30 p.m. on Mondays in the third floor dining room.
