Resident of the Manor and retired librarian, Mickey McClure, has volunteered for several years as our local librarian. She spends two to three hours a week making sure that all the books are classified correctly. Resident Neva Bahruth, also volunteers each day in the library hanging up the papers for residents to read in a relaxing, quiet environment.
New in 2008, the Manor library has been pleased to welcome the Arkansas City Public Library book truck. Twice a month a public library representative brings a truckload of books for residents at the Manor to check out. A group of books is rotated over the next two week period and special requests are acknowledged. The public library has committed to bringing the books out on a long term basis and residents at the Manor are delighted with the added service and opportunities to read their favorite authors.
