‘Just Ask’ the Alzheimer’s expert at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing concern because the numbers are growing. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, about 5.3 million Americans have Alzheimer’s and it is now the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States. It costs the country $172 billion a year. Do you have questions about the disease?

Amy Siple, associate professor at Newman University, will present a free talk, “Understanding Alzheimer’s” Nov. 5 at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor.

With a master’s in nursing and a family nurse practitioner license, Siple has the credentials and experience to present credible information.

Topics will include:

  • What is Alzheimer’s?
  • Who’s at risk?
  • What are the latest treatments?
  • How do you interact with someone who has Alzheimer’s?
  • What is the caregiver experiencing?
  • What resources are out there to help caregivers?

This is the latest in a series of free informational programs from Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor. Its “Just Ask” speaker series presents information and encouragement for seniors’ healthy lifestyles.

“Understanding Alzheimer’s” is Friday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m., at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor, 1711 N. Fourth. RSVP to Senior Living Counselor Abby Dickey at 620-442-8700. Light refreshments will be served.
