One day when sitting outside enjoying the weather, Donnie watched a visitor to the Manor, Randy Parkes, drive up on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Donnie commented that she used to ride motorcycles and wondered what it would be like to climb back up again on the back of a Harley. A few days later Donnie no longer had to wonder as her dream came true. It was an amazing sight as staff pushed Donnie in her wheelchair outside to the parking lot and assisted her onto the back of Randy Parkes’ Heritage Softtail Classic. Donnie donned her helmet and “shades” and waved to the crowd of residents and staff as she “headed on down the highway.” Staff commented that they had never seen Donnie so happy. Upon her return Donnie stated, “That was just the best. I want to do this again. I never thought I would ever be on the back of a motorcycle again in my life.” This wish come true is just the beginning for Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor residents. Activity programming has begun which will give residents opportunities to fulfill lifelong dreams. The Manor philosophy is “The Way You Want To Live” and the administration and staff are committed to assisting residents in their pursuit to live long, happy, and productive lives.
