The 14th Annual Dick Metz Memorial golf tournament netted approximately $16,000 for the Good Samaritan Fund at the Presbyterian Manor. The golf tournament is the largest annual fundraiser for the Good Samaritan Fund. This fund provides for the care of residents who have outlived their financial resources. The event kicked off with registration, lunch and a putting contest at 9:30 a.m. at the Arkansas City Country Club. The event concluded with an evening awards banquet catered by the Landing Strip.

There were 25 teams that participated in the three or four-man scramble. The 1st low gross winning team was comprised of Aaron Robbins, Rick Holman, Jim Baker, and Charlie Burroughs. 1st low net team winners were Stephen Jennings, Seth Colquhoun, Dave Lund, Shiloh Roberson. Two teams tied for 2nd low net and they were Nathan Niles, John Foust, Tony Watkins, and Zac Barnes; and Lane Massey, Mike Morgan, Michael Morgan, and Traver Herman.

In addition to 18 holes of golf, the day’s event included a golf ball drop from a helicopter. Congratulations to Jeremy Steiner for having the winning ball. Steve Ross, chairperson of the golf committee, presented him with the $1000.00 prize. Thanks to Regina Padgett and Jeff Wood in assisting in the ball drop.

The Home National Bank was the major tournament sponsor and Union State Bank sponsored the banquet. We greatly appreciate their generous donation and ongoing support of this event.

Many thanks to everyone who played in the tournament, all volunteers, hole sponsors and prize sponsors. To be on the mailing list for the 2009 tournament, contact us at 620-442-8700 or via email.
