Home | Recent News | Aberdeen Village | Village Fitness Class 01 Mar 2006 Village fitness class fun for friends and neighborsThere are many ways to get a little exercise in your life. Some residents choose to exercise alone, but many Aberdeen residents find that an exercise class of like-minded friends and neighbors keeps them motivated. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m., residents from apartement homes and assisted living gather in the Highlands Living Room. Resident volunteer Mary Lou Niebling leads the group in exercises that everyone can do, including stretching and chair exercises. Class members use small hand weights to add resistance to their movements and increase their strength. Mary Lou also provides colorful “stretchy bands” for residents to use. The bands provide resistance and can be used on all areas of the body, including arms and legs. Toward the end of their workout, residents move their chairs into a large circle and throw a large ball back and forth. This exercise is not only good for coordination, memory and strength; it is also a lot of fun! If you are interested in having a little fun while you exercise, join the group in the Highlands Living Room this week. Anyone is welcome.
