Christmas Tree Lane a Great Success

Christmas Tree Lane brought together 24 individuals, businesses and organizations to decorate three-foot trees to be on display the first week of December at Aberdeen Village. The public was invited to enjoy the display and at the end of the week, on Dec. 8, everyone had an opportunity to win a tree of their choice. Proceeds went to benefit the Village's Good Samaritan Fund which provides for residents who have outlived their financial resources.

"It was fun for everyone," said Mandy Sheldon, Aberdeen Village marketing director. "We had a lot of family and employee support, along with the residents."

This is the first year Aberdeen has mounted the display and it looks like there will be future Christmas Tree Lanes for the Village. Two dozen trees were decorated and sponsored by residents, friends of the Village, businesses and organizations. In front of each tree was a sack that people could put their name into for the drawing during the Dec. 8 reception. For a suggested donation of $1 per ticket or 6 for $5, the event raised $1,068 for the Good Samaritan Fund.

"We were packed for the drawings," said Sheldon. "I estimate we had 65 or more people here to see if they would go home with a tree they had entered to win."

Sheldon and Activities Director Paula Simons worked together on the event which helped ring in the holidays, provided wonderful decoration at the Village, and added to the benefit funds for residents. "We are already looking forward to next year's event," Sheldon added.
