Be alert for Kansas Medicare scam

Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger is warning Kansans on Medicare to be aware of a new phone scam. The caller claims to be a Medicare representative from your area office. They report that all beneficiaries will receive $150 or $200 per month for prescription drugs on a new Medicare card. Village to host annual fundraiser dinner, auction

Presbyterian Village of Fort Scott will host its annual Good Samaritan Fund benefit dinner and auction on Wednesday, April 25 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. We will be serving Chicken Annie’s Dinners complete with homemade dessert and drinks throughout the evening. In addition to the auction items, we will be drawing for one lucky pair to win a seven-day cruise at the end of the evening. Read More...

Valentine dinner dates

The Manor’s annual Sweetheart Dinner, a celebration of Valentine’s Day, is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13. Appetizers will be served in the Rendezvous and the parlor at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. Reservations must be made for the dinner no later than Friday, Feb. 2. Guest meals are $7 each. The First Presbyterian Church Deacons will host their annual Valentine’s Day party for residents on Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the recreation room from 6:30 to 8 p.m. During the party, residents will enjoy refreshments.
