Gardeners not worried about a little dirt under their fingernails

Gardening has been gaining in respect as an excellent way to get exercise without a lot of physical stress. But you don’t have to tell gardners that it's a healthy hobby. Gardening can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels and keep away problems with heart disease, diabetes other diseases related to inactivity and excess weight. Additionally, gardening and yard care are beneficial for mental health. Community Friends is fun with a purpose at the Village

Earlier this year, Presbyterian Village in Fort Scott started something new -- Community Friends. Residents get together to work on a project that will benefit an organization in the community. They enjoy the comraderie and the opportunity to have fun with a purpose. Our residents want to be involved in the Fort Scott community and this new opportunity seems to be filling that need quite nicely. Life-long Fort Scott resident Jackie Hardy, moved to Presbyterian Village in April 2006. At the Village, she is known for her ready smile and sharing the joy in her heart with all she encounters. A Perfect April Evening for Good Samaritan Event

The weather was perfect to come out on April 29 to celebrate the auction and dinner to benefit Presbyterian Village’s Good Samaritan Fund. Virginia Hart Enjoys Puzzles, home crafts

Virginia Hart was born Virginia Pryor on November 10, 1921, the first daughter of parents Roy and Lyda Pryor of Bourbon County. Six years later her sister was born. She stated that she has never lived anywhere else but Bourbon County, but “bloomed where she was at.” Growing up she attended Victory Grade School east of town. Then went to Fort Scott High School and graduated in 1939. Read More...
