Manor Sampler Program provides taste of retirement freedom

Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America offers a special program designed to give you the opportunity to sample retirement community living by enjoying a free, relaxing one to three day stay.

Dubbed the Manor Sampler, this program allows people to experience retirement living firsthand without having to make a commitment of signing an application or moving in. Seven locations in the Presbyterian Manors system of not-for-profit communities offer the program: Arkansas City, Emporia, Fort Scott, Lawrence, Newton, Parsons and Wichita.

“Moving into a retirement community is a serious decision,” said William Ward, president and CEO of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. “We understand people are making an investment when they move in, and want them to have the confidence in their decision. We also want to help people understand they’re not giving up their freedom, but enhancing it.”

Prospects can schedule one, two or three days and nights at the Presbyterian Manor in which they are interested to get a firsthand perspective on the benefits of choosing a Presbyterian Manor home. Manor Sampler guests can experience the dining, activities, social gatherings and pleasure of maintenance-free retirement living in a furnished guest apartment.

Leslie Chaffin, director of marketing for Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, said Presbyterian Manors is aware that many individuals have formed misperceptions about retirement communities and what they have to offer. “Our residents express many positive advantages resulting from their decision to make Presbyterian Manor their home,” Chaffin said.

These advantages, she explained, range from giving up mowing the lawn to having someone else cook the meals. “Residents see the benefits of giving up everyday chores to be able to do more of the things they enjoy such as volunteering in the community, traveling, visiting with family and friends, and pursuing hobbies and other interests.”

By participating in the no-cost, no-obligation opportunity to stay in a Presbyterian Manor or Village retirement community, Chaffin said Presbyterian Manors hopes people will form a different perspective on retirement community living. “We think this will be a powerful way to replace any misperceptions by giving them a firsthand experience,” she said.
