At Presbyterian Manor of Wichita, our job in our Health Care Center is to empower residents to remain as independent as possible, and to help them make the most out of daily living — physically, socially and spiritually — despite the effects of declining health. We provide them with options to choose from whether it’s their noon meal or joining others on an excursion, or even when they want to get up in the morning. We want them to feel at home and bring with them family photos, a favorite quilt and items to decorate their room in a way that helps them make the transition into a health care environment.
Residents in our health care center live in “neighborhoods” and have an assigned staff to assist as much as needed. We call it “The Way You Want to Live,” though it is often known as person-centered planning. What it means is that each resident’s needs, interests and abilities are taken into consideration to maintain as much independence as possible.
What families find is that their parents are in qualified hands to provide the care needed for the best possible quality of life. We “sweat the details” and do our best to ensure that the services and support are provided to make the best of your loved one’s abilities.
Our staff receives training through the Alzheimer’s Association to understand and recognize residents experiencing early stages of memory loss, which assists us in helping you should a specialized program be necessary. A full range of physical, occupational and speech therapy services is available among other services to assist in maintaining or regaining as much independence as possible.
Programs and activities may range from a piano recital to a game of dominos to a visit to the zoo. On-site conveniences include: hair salon, chapel services, health, social and educational programs, and transportation. Whatever your perception of a nursing home, we think you’ll find we’re much more than that. We invite you to visit to see our health center and see for yourself.
Care and services are provided based on an individualized plan with nursing services available 24 hours a day. With six levels of care, we are able to adjust to meet residents’ needs as their physical and mental health may change. We use the evaluation system required by the State of Kansas and Medicare to measure each resident’s capabilities and physical health to determine the appropriate level of care. Our health care center is Medicare certified for short-term recuperative stays. And we have a full complement of rehabilitation therapy services to assist in recovery.
Health Care Center Cost
Long-term care policies may cover many of the costs involved. The best way to determine what costs might be involved would be to speak directly with us and schedule an assessment. We can help you understand costs and ensure you are comfortable with every aspect of your decision.
