At Presbyterian Manor, we understand the dilemma you may be facing – the desire to care for your parent or loved one who has Alzheimer’s or a related dementia and the realization that this may be more than you can handle. This isn’t just anyone with Alzheimer’s – this is your mom or dad. We know you want to do what’s best for them.
That’s why we’ve created a place designed to provide the compassionate care and support your loved one needs and deserves. Knowing that your loved one is safe and in good hands, that he or she is happy, helps you have confidence in your decision.
Whether memory loss is caused by Alzheimer’s, dementia or a related illness, Presbyterian Manor offers a secure and welcoming environment that provides programs designed to engage the mind, offer social opportunities and professional support to meet your loved one’s needs.
Each of our employees is trained to work with our residents with memory loss. Training is provided initially through the Alzheimer's Association with ongoing education and training to keep each employee current in caring for residents with memory loss.
Presbyterian Manors pioneered providing care specially tailored for seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia in 1986 when they opened the first memory care center in Kansas at the Newton location. Since then, we’ve learned from our residents, from experts in this field of care and are proud of the reputation we’ve earned for providing the care and services residents need, providing you with the peace of mind that your loved one is in an environment that is supportive, challenging and helps them live as you’d want them to live.
More than Home
Why do we say Presbyterian Manor memory support is more than home? Anyone who has cared for and worried about someone with Alzheimer’s or a related illness knows that it can be confusing and frustrating to know what is best for your loved one. And sometimes, even how to respond when your loved one speaks of memories as if they are happening today. Your loved one brings their memories and their things with them to Presbyterian Manor.
Especially those things they feel most connected to whether it’s furniture or photographs, a favorite quilt or painting collection. Our state licensed memory support center provides the staff support, care, programs and services your loved one needs. You get the peace of mind that comes from knowing your loved one is in good hands. You can visit anytime and we welcome your joining in activities and programs with your loved one.
Caring for the whole person
Our memory support center provides the staff support, care, programs and services your loved one needs. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all program as we look at your loved one as an individual with their own interests. Our goal is to help them feel comfortable and secure. You get the added peace of mind that professional staff is available anytime they are needed.
Rather than being isolated at home, your loved one is surrounded by people who care about them, programs and performances that will continue to stimulate their mind and lift their spirits. Programs are designed for those with Alzheimer’s, memory loss and dementia.
You can visit anytime and we welcome your joining in activities and programs with your loved one. We know that nothing replaces the familiar warmth of family. You get to enjoy your time more, sharing memories, family pictures and enjoying each other’s company, instead of worrying about the day-to-day care.
We’re here to help
