Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America has issued a call for entries in its 28th annual Art is Ageless™ juried exhibits at its 17 locations in Kansas and Missouri. Exhibits will be held in August during Artists’ Appreciation Month. Entries of artistic works will be accepted from any area artist who is 65 years of age or older to exhibit and/or compete for an opportunity to be featured in the 2009 Art is Ageless calendar.
“The exhibits and competition has grown each year since opening the competition to all artists 65 and older in our service areas,” said Leslie Chaffin, corporate director of marketing. “We are looking forward to even greater diversity of entries within categories this year.”
Entry forms and information can be picked up at Presbyterian Manor locations. Entry forms and competition rules will also be posted in this section of the web site as they become available from the individual communities.
Artists need to have been age 65 or older when the work was created and works need to have been completed in the past five years (since January 2003). There are seven categories for works, and up to three entries may be made by a single artist with no more than two entries in a single category. Deadlines for each community’s competition are noted below. Artists also may choose to enter the exhibit only.
Art is Ageless began in 1980 as a competition for residents and employees throughout the Presbyterian Manors system to appear in an annual calendar. Since then, the competition has grown to encompass preliminary judging and exhibits at the local level with winners in each category photographed for submission to the corporate office for final judging. In addition, several Manor communities now offer year round opportunities to explore the arts. Visit the page for the community nearest you for contact information to find out what is offered.
